The Wellcome Trust - Changes to grant application process 

The WellTrust has introduced a number of changes to their grant application process. The Trust has redesigned its application forms.  A summary of the main changes are listed below:

·       Addition of new questions on:  public engagement plans; Full Economic Costs (see below); research involving human participants, biological samples and personal data; experiments on animals; and research misuse. 

·       Revisions to the presentation of financial information: a summary of financial support requested must be provided, and we no longer require an annual breakdown of costs for materials, salaries etc. 

·       Equal Opportunities:  applicants are now asked to provide this information at the time of completing the form (in a secure part of the Home page in the case of eGrants).

Revised eGrant application forms for project, programme grants and University Awards are now available at https://secure.wellcome.ac.uk/eGrants/Authentication/login.asp  

Applicants and Institutions are strongly encouraged to use eGrant forms as soon as possible.  We will be conducting a consultative review within the next few months, and will be upgrading the system and making any necessary changes based on the feedback we receive.  

Revised Word forms will continue to be available for project and programme grants for the time being.  Project grant forms are available by clicking on http://www.wellcome.ac.uk/funding/biomedicalscience/ and by then choosing your stream and selecting 'project grants'.  Applicants for programme grants must first discuss their proposal with a member of Trust staff in the appropriate funding stream.

APPLICANTS WHO ARE ALREADY FILLING IN AN APPLICATION 

FORM (WHETHER eGRANT OR WORD), MAY CONTINUE TO DO SO.  However, if 

your application is successful we may come back to you and ask you to fill in supplementary pages.

APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED FOR CONSIDERATION AFTER 1 OCTOBER 2006 MUST BE ON eGRANT FORMS.
