Description:
In early October 2004, the research center "Black Europe", headed by
Prof. Dr. Randolph Ochsmann, was inaugurated at the Johannes
Gutenberg-University Mainz, Germany. It is promoting "Black European
Studies" (BEST) as a new academic field. Interdisciplinary research projects
that are supported by the Volkswagen Foundation will be exploring and
investigating the history, the present-day experience, and the future
perspectives of the "Black Populations of Europe". Further information can
be found on our website (www.best.uni-mainz.de).
We request the collaboration of social scientists all over Europe.
Psychologists and sociologists doing empirical research on stereotypes,
attitudes, discrimination etc. are asked to participate in a study on the
self-other-perceptions of black populations in different European nations.
Suitable scientists will be invited to a conference taking place at Mainz in
autumn 2005. Do not hesitate to contact us for any question or inquiry. We
are looking forward to hearing from you.
