Subject: EADI Prize for Development Studies
The EADI Prize for Development Studies 2005
The European Association of Development Research and
Training Institutes (EADI) awards students for
excellence in academic development research.
A prize of 1,000 Euro will be awarded to a
postgraduate student who submits the best paper in any
field of social science elaborating on an issue of
development studies. The student has to have a
relation to an EADI member institute (such as
enrollment or engagement).
The essay for the EADI Prize for Development Studies
is required to have a length of approximately 5,000 to
7,000 words (submitted double line-spaced in 11-point
font). Each entry should be accompanied by a
two-hundred-word abstract.
The essays will come under scrutiny by one of the EADI
Working Groups prior to being sent on to the jury.
Thus, although the subjects can be related to any
field of development studies, essays coherent with
EADI Working Group topics might enjoy an advantage. A
list of the EADI Working Groups with information on
the topics can be found on the Association’s web site:
http://www.eadi.org.
All entries for the EADI Prize for Development Studies
2005 should reach the EADI´s office in Bonn by 31 May
2005 via post or e-mail. We expect hard copies to
follow e-mail entries, which can be handed in later
than the deadline.
The Jury for the EADI Prize for Development Studies
2005 is going to announce its decision in July 2005.
The winner will be invited to the Association’s 11th
General Conference in Bonn from 21-24 September 2005,
where the celebration and presentation of the essay by
the student is going to take place.
The winning entry as well as other high quality
entries will be considered for publication in the
European Journal of Development Research.
