Meeting
Randomised Controlled Trials (RCTs) Of Complex Educational Interventions:
Mission Impossible?
In the UK, educational interventions are rarely tested using RCTs, and the
feasibility, ethics and value of such designs are contested. This paper uses
recent trials of health education interventions in schools to demonstrate
that trials are feasible. It is argued that these trials have provided
unbiased estimates of intervention effects, as well as illuminating the
importance of variable implementation and context.
