The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Karolinska
Institutet
currently has openings for postdocs in Epidemiology and Biostatistics
http://www.meb.ki.se/news/vacant_positions/info/2005/postdoc_epi_050209_en.html
I would be grateful if you can bring this to the attention of any PhD
students in Biostatistics
who are near graduation. We are particularly interested to attract
postdocs with an interest
in statistical methodology for family data. Sweden has unique
family-data resources, as the
Swedish Multigeneration Register contains information on the biological
and adopting parents
of approximately 9 million individuals born since 1932, resulting in
13.5 million unique persons,
and 3.6 million nuclear families, who can be connected to their vital
status and health outcomes
through their unique national registration number.
Our group are using these resources in a number of ongoing projects to
* develop methods for accommodating incomplete (missing) family data
* estimation of genetic and environmental effects for disease onset
* extending GLMM methods to bivariate disease outcomes
* deriving methods to deal with family ascertainment schemes, and
suggest efficient family-based designs
I will be happy to provide further details to any interested students
that contact me directly.
Thank you for your help in disseminating this information as soon as you
can,
as the closing date is 31st March 2005.
Regards,
Marie
