Salary to £33,720 p.a. inc.
The Medical Research Council (MRC) General Practice Research Framework
(GPRF) is a network of 1100 General Practices throughout the UK that
collaborate with the MRC in undertaking high quality research. Our studies
are mainly funded by government and national charities.
A Statistician is required to provide a comprehensive statistical service
related to the range of studies undertaken by the GPRF.
Specific responsibilities will include
· Leading and managing all statistical aspects of specific trials and
studies co-ordinated by the group.
· Liaising with programmers on the design of trial/study databases
· Liaising with data/trial managers, particularly relating to checks
on data completeness and accuracy, and managing statistical aspects of
ongoing trial/study conduct
· Preparation of conference abstracts and papers for submission to
peer reviewed journals, and the presentation of abstracts at national and
international conferences
· Playing an integral role in the development of new research
proposals, including study design and sample size calculations, both to the
GPRF and to external collaborators
· reading relevant journals and attending conferences, etc, to
increase your knowledge of the GPRF primary care research
· .To develop and solve methodological problems, in collaboration
with interested colleagues, which are of practical relevance to the work of
the GPRF
· To participate in teaching and in the statistical review of papers
Salary includes Location Allowance and Central London Supplement.

The salary is dependent on previous experience and may be negotiable for
exceptional candidates.
