SEMINAR
RECENT RESULTS ON STABILISATION OF PARTIAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS BY NOISE
Prof T Caraballo, Universidad de Sevilla
Thursday 30th June 2005, 2pm
The Whittaker Room (211)
Abstract:
The aim of this talk is to report on some recent results concerning the
stabilisation effects produced by stochastic perturbations in deterministic
models. This kind of results had already been proved for linear systems of
differential equations in the 80's by L. Arnold and his collaborators,
while the corresponding problem in the infinite-dimensional framework had
remained unsolved when the stochastic perturbations were considered in the
sense of Stratonovich. We will show some results on this direction. Also,
we will compare the different effects that noise can produce in a system
depending on the type of interpretation we give to the stochastic integral
(Ito vs Stratonovich).
Following the talk, tea and biscuits will be available in Room 304
