Division of Imaging Sciences & Biomedical Engineering
Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences
(Ref - MHS/190/05 & MHS/191/05)
You will be highly-motivated researchers to develop world-class epidemiology in the Northwest Institute for Bio-Health Informatics (NIBHI, www.nibhi.org.uk <http://www.nibhi.org.uk/> ), in collaboration with UK Biobank (www.ukbiobank.ac.uk <http://www.ukbiobank.ac.uk/> ) and the Division of Epidemiology and Health Sciences at Manchester Medical School.
Post 1: Research Fellow in Epidemiology and Biobanking (Ref MHS/190/05)
You will build on your own epidemiological research profile whilst working closely with colleagues in UK Biobank and the Centre for Integrated Genomic Medical Research on the informatics required to realise the epidemiological potential of large-scale national and international collections of biological samples, clinical and population-level data.
Post 2: Research Fellow in Public Health/Epidemiology (Ref MHS/191/05)
You will build on your own research profile, involving quantitative methodological challenges in public health priority areas. Epidemiological foci are not restricted, however, interests in common conditions with complex determinants will be favoured.
Both posts will be supported by collaborators in bio-health informatics. The unique NIBHI environment has been created to facilitate this sort of inter-disciplinary scholarship, across a range of scales of informatics-dependent research from genetic to societal levels. Beyond NIBHI there are many epidemiologists, statisticians and public health researchers working in co-located groups a strong support network is available.
Posts are available immediately and tenable for three years in the first instance.
