RESEARCH FELLOW B IN TOURISM FORECASTING
Business and Economic Forecasting Unit, Monash University
The Business and Economic Forecasting Unit is part of the Faculty of
Business & Economics at Monash University, and undertakes research
and consulting in forecasting. It includes ten academic staff and 15
PhD students, and is one of the leading forecasting research groups
in the world.
Applications are sought for a position of Research Fellow (Level B)
in the Unit, to be based on the Clayton campus. The appointee will
contribute to research in developing and applying methodology for
forecasting in tourism. The appointee will collaborate with other
researchers in the Sustainable Tourism Cooperative Research Centre
(STCRC) and within Tourism Research Australia, as well as staff
within the Department of Econometrics & Business Statistics at Monash
University.
This is a new 3-year fixed term position in the area of tourism
forecasting that is jointly funded by Tourism Research Australia, the
Sustainable Tourism Cooperative Research Centre (STCRC) and the
Department of Econometrics & Business Statistics at Monash University.
Applicants should have a demonstrated potential for research, an
ability to work independently in a research environment as well as
part of a team, and have an interest in working on tourism
forecasting. A Ph.D. in statistics or econometrics is essential.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential:
1. A PhD in statistics or econometrics from a recognized university.
2. Ability to work independently in a research environment.
3. Ability to work as part of a team.
4. Ability to prepare and communicate the aims and outputs of
research projects in a range of formats including formal and
informal oral presentations, refereed research papers and reports.
Desirable:
1. Experience in developing statistical methodology for forecasting.
2. Knowledge of the tourism industry and tourism research.
SALARY: $57936 – $68801 depending on experience.
