Metabonomic/Proteomic Data Analysis Expert

 

£30k-35k (depending on experience) + benefits + options 

 

BlueGnome Ltd. is a rapidly growing bioinformatics company supplying high
value statistical software and services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology
businesses, universities and research institutes. BlueGnome is currently
seeking an energetic individual with significant experience of the analysis
and biological interpretation of metabonomic and or/proteomic data to help
develop next generation data analysis solutions for the pharmaceutical
sector. 

 

The role:

 

-           Based at our Cambridge (U.K.) offices, you will play a key role
in our data analysis team.

 

-           You will become expert in the use of our state-of-the-art
statistical analysis tools to interpret and analyse our customers’
metabonomic and/or proteomic (NMR, Mass Spec) data with the aim of biomarker
identification and characterization. You will use these tools to help
interpret the biological relevance of customer findings and will actively
support the customer throughout the process. 

 

-           You will use your detailed knowledge of spectral interpretation
to contribute to and support the development of our new spectral analysis
methods and tools. You will work with our research and engineering team to
focus the development of powerful statistical technology onto the most
important issues in the drug discovery process today.

 

-           You will have the opportunity to attend conferences abroad, and
may represent the company through presentation of your work, where possible.

 

The individual:

 

You will be a bright, delivery focused, individual with significant
experience in a pharmaceutical, bioinformatics, or academic research
setting, with a particular emphasis on the spectral data interpretation for
the purpose of biomarker identification.  You will have a understanding of
current methods for processing the data (e.g. PCA, PLS, univariate tests
etc.), their strengths/weaknesses, and more importantly, of the underlying
biological quantities involved (e.g. metabolites) and their related
pathways. 

 

Possessing a strong honours level degree in the biological sciences, or
related subject, at a minimum, and ideally with a Ph.D., you will have a
demonstrable ability to extract valuable biological information from
spectral data. Ideally, you will also possess experience exploiting this
ability in a pharmaceutical context. You will be keen to be part of a world
