Research Officer (Two posts - both posts up to £23,643 per annum plus
relocation package)
We are seeking two social researchers to join the ESRC Question bank [Qb]
within the Department of Sociology. The Qb is a web resource making
available information about UK social survey research.
Question Bank Content Manager Post Reference - 4927 Three years
The Content Manager will be responsible for the contents of the Question
Bank web resource including researching new surveys for inclusion,
researching changes and updates to current surveys held on the site and
updating and renewing all other content on the site. The post holder will
also develop Qb's European coverage and contribute to the Data Documentation
Initiative.
Question Bank Researcher Post Reference - 4928 25 months
The Researcher will work on the key variables area of the Question Bank
which deals with measurement issues, and on developing plans to better
represent Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) surveys to Qb
users. The post holder will also have responsibility for an annual user
feedback survey, Question Bank user statistics and for answering user
enquiries.
Applicants for both posts should have a good first degree in Sociology and a
Masters degree in Social Research or related discipline. Both will have a
strong focus on survey research. An interest in survey measurement is highly
desirable. Part-time PhD registration will be a possibility. Suitable
candidates should ideally have two years experience of working in a research
environment, such as a survey agency, and have excellent IT skills. As
social researchers, applicants should be able to deal easily with a wide
range of professional social researchers in non-academic contexts and have
training and expertise in social survey methods.
