Opportunity for Senior Medical Statistician/Medical Statistician/Analyst in
the Information and Analysis Team, Northern and Yorkshire Cancer Registry
and Information Service (NYCRIS)

A&C6/SM9 £20,549 - £30,439 per annum (presently under review), pro-rata for
part-time
The post is full-time 37.5 hours; however part-time hours and/or job share
will be considered.
Cancer registries are facing many challenges to meet the information demands
of the national cancer agenda. NYCRIS requires a motivated senior medical
statistician/ medical statistician/ analyst to help deliver a first class
service locally and nationally. This post is suitable for anyone who has
previously worked in public health analysis and/or epidemiology. It
provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to the changing agenda of
cancer services and ongoing epidemiological research. The post will be
involved in providing expert statistical input and advice relating to all
NYCRIS cancer information outputs including reports, scientific papers and
electronic products, and will play a key role in an ongoing programme of
epidemiological research. There will be involvement in all aspects of
project design and analysis, both in-house and collaborative, which utilise
NYCRIS data.
Suitability for appointment at the alternative levels of seniority
advertised is dependent on a combination of qualifications and experience
ranging from a degree in mathematics/statistics combined with one year of
relevant experience to a postgraduate qualification in Medical Statistics or
equivalent with a minimum of two years relevant experience. Good
communication skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
are essential. This post also provides an opportunity to work with the
Biostatistics Unit at the University of Leeds, with which an honorary
contract would be arranged. Part-time hours and/or job share opportunities
will be considered.
