We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a proven track record in research to join our team in the Centre for Integrated Healthcare Research (CIHR) in Edinburgh. This Centre is a new strategic initiative funded by the Scottish Executive Health Department, NHS Education for Scotland and the Chief Scientist Office. CIHR is made up of a consortium spanning three Higher Education Institutes (University of Edinburgh, Napier University and Queen Margaret University College) and three health boards (NHS Lothian, Borders and Lanarkshire). Its goal is the development of research capacity in the fields of nursing, midwifery and the allied health professions.
The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for statistical design and analysis of a wide range of projects generated by the CIHR. It is anticipated that this will include both large and small scale clinical trials but will also include epidemiological research and the development of other methodologies. The post holder will work closely with academic departments in the three HEIs and also a wide range of clinicians in the process of developing research projects.
The post would be based at Queen Margaret University College but would have the opportunity for close links with the medical statisticians in the other HEIs.
Applicants should have either a PhD in statistics or an MSc/MPhil and relevant work experience. Candidates will have excellent computing skills and considerable experience using statistical packages and database systems. Applicants should also have good communication skills, possess initiative and be able to work effectively in a team. Experience in supervising post-graduate students would be an advantage.
