Call for papers for Fifth annual meeting of ENBIS
Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK, Wednesday 14th - Friday 16th September, 2005
The fifth Annual ENBIS Conference organised by the European Network for Business and Industrial Statistics follows successful meetings in Oslo, Rimini, Barcelona and Copenhagen. The venue will be the prestigious St James' Park Newcastle United Football Ground Conference Suite.

ENBIS draws members from a variety of industrial and service areas mainly across Europe in a range of disciplines including biostatistics, data mining, risk analysis, statistical modelling and reliability engineering. ENBIS5 seeks papers and posters on:
- communications, experiences, and lessons learned
- state of the art reviews for specific sectors or generic application areas
- novel applications and advances in methodology
Sessions topics will include risk management, research methods, reliability and maintenance, kansei engineering, six sigma, algebraic statistics and clinical trials. There will be three parallel streams and workshops on data mining, operational risk management and statistical consulting are planned before and after the conference. One stream will be dedicated to practical applications of statistics for practitioners and statistical thinkers.
Abstracts up to 250 words should be submitted online by March 31st 2005 at http://www.enbis.org/newcastleconference/registration.html. There are three formats - 20 minute presentation (including 5 minutes for questions), a poster with 2-3 minute presentation in a special session or workshop. Both presentation forms will have a bibliographic status of "presentation" and prizes will be awarded by the conference sponsors for the best paper in both categories.
Notification of acceptance will be made by email no later than May 31st 2005.
Registration fees:
* 320 EUR before 15th June 2005 (25 EUR reduction for Enbis members)
* 370 EUR post 15th June ( 25 EUR reduction for Enbis members)
Includes coffee, tea and wine reception on 14th and lunch, coffee and tea on 15th and 16th.
* Conference dinner at Assembly Rooms, Newcastle upon Tyne on 15th is 50 EUR extra. Numbers are limited to 150, first come first served.
* Day rate is 175 EUR including coffee, lunch and tea on 15th and 16th and includes operational risk management workshop and lunch on 14th
* Wine reception for day delegates is 30 EUR extra
Peter Armitage worked with Robin Plackett for some years during World War II in the Ministry of Supply Unit, and for a while afterwards at the National Physical Laboratory. Please note that the conference dinner is an optional extra and numbers are limited to 150 and will be on a first come first served basis.
The conference is endorsed by the Royal Statistical Society.
Selected papers in previous years have been published in a special edition of Quality and Reliability Engineering International.
