Background of Organisation:
Inveresk Research is one of the top international contract research
organisations with global offices (Europe and USA),working successfully
with clients worldwide to assist them in their drug development programmes
and providing safety and efficacy testing services from preclinical to
Phase I to IV clinical studies.
Assistant Statistician/Statistician:
We require an Assistant Statistician/Statistician to join our team based in
Tranent near Edinburgh or Glasgow, who will be responsible for the
statistical analysis and reporting of a variety of clinical trials.
In many cases, you will be able to influence the design of the trial by
providing sample size calculations and statistical input at an early stage.
Our trials cover all phases from I-IV and a wide range of therapeutic
areas.Additionally, there are opportunities for statistical involvement
in different non-clinical areas such as consumer research trials,
environmental studies, veterinary clinical trials and animal toxicology
studies.
Person Specification:
You should have an academic qualification in statistics (or mathematics),
ideally at MSc level. This should be supported by a good working knowledge
of SAS. One to three years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical
industry or a contract research organisation would be a significant
advantage. If you have additional experience, you may be considered for a
more senior position.
You should be adaptable by nature, self-disciplined, reflective and
questioning.The ability to communicate statistical results and concepts to
clients and colleagues will form a vital part of this position and
therefore, it is important that you have excellent communication skills.
In addition, you should have good organisational skills, an eye for detail,
and an understanding of the importance of accuracy and quality in
scientific work. Ongoing training and support by our more senior team
members in relevant software and various aspects of clinical and non-
clinical studies will be provided in order to ensure continuous development
and career progression.
