Warwick HRI - Wellesbourne
Biometrician
£19,460-£21,640
Fixed Term for 1 year in the first instance
Warwick HRI is the principal UK organisation for horticultural research and
development (R&D). The Biometrics group supports this work through a
statistical consultancy service, involvement in collaborative research
projects, and the provision of biometrical training for students and staff.
You will initially contribute to the statistical consultancy service. This
will include giving advice and assistance on the design, analysis and
interpretation of experiments for a range of projects across a number of
plant science disciplines, including traditional areas such as agronomy,
entomology, pathology and soil science, as well as newer areas associated
with molecular biology. Opportunities to get involved in collaborative
research projects should follow, and it is intended that you will also
contribute to the development and presentation of future biometrical
training programmes.
A degree in Statistics or a related subject is required together with an 'A'
level standard qualification in Maths. An 'A' level qualification in
biological sciences would be beneficial. You will have an ability to solve
problems, and to communicate statistical ideas to non-statisticians. You
will also have statistical computing skills with practical experience of a
major statistical package, such as GenStat, SAS, S-plus or R.
Closing date: 18 February 2005
