***Analysis of Experimental Designs Commonly used in Medical Research***
14-16 March
This course is concerned with the analysis of certain kinds of unbalanced experiments that occur in all phases or clinical trials research. In particular, emphasis is placed on analysing designs in which experimental units (often subjects) are assigned to treatment groups under reasonable types of restrictions. These kinds of experiments include multi-centre studies and/or those that involve repeated measurements on each subject. During the course you will learn the advantages and disadvantages of using the GLM and MIXED procedures in SAS when trying to obtain correct analyses of these kinds of messy experiments; you will learn which options are important to use and which can be ignored.
***Design and Analysis of Crossover Experiments***
17-18 March
Crossover designs are special types of repeated measures experiments where the experimental units are given different treatments in different sequences over time. They offer some real advantages over traditional parallel subject designs when comparing different treatments because crossover designs allow each subject to serve as his/her own control. There are, however, certain pitfalls that must be avoided if crossover designs are going to be used effectively. This course will introduce you to the important issues associated with crossover experiments, and instruct you on how to carry out appropriate statistical analyses.
