Senior Quantitative Risk Analyst – Assessing Ecological and Health Risks
The Central Science Laboratory (CSL) is an Executive Agency of the UK
Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). The Agency
provides policy advice and technical support underpinned by high quality
R&D to help DEFRA and other customers safeguard food supplies, protect
consumers and the environment.
CSL is at the forefront of developing probabilistic methods for
assessing environmental risks of pesticide use in Europe and is rapidly
applying similar approaches in other areas of its work, from wildlife
management to food safety. We now require a Senior Risk Analyst to lead
and carry out quantitative (or probabilistic) risk assessments,
estimating levels of risk to human health and/or the environment from
chemicals and other stressors including quantification of variability
and uncertainty. You will also be required to identify opportunities,
network with potential customers, and prepare detailed project proposals
in the human and/or environmental areas.
This is a permanent post at CSL Band 5, based in the Risk Analysis Team
at CSL’s world-class laboratory facilities in a rural setting near York,
UK. CSL is an Equal Opportunities Employer. We operate flexible working
practices and the York site includes various staff facilities.
