Epidemiology, Study Design and Data Analysis course
Dates: Wed 6 July - Fri 8 July 2005
Times: 9.00am - 5.00pm
Location: Kerry Packer Education Centre
Royal Prince Alfred Hospital
Missenden Rd, Camperdown, NSW
Based on Professor Mark Woodward's book of the same title, this three
day course aims to build an up-to-date understanding of the statistical
principles and methodologies that can be used in biostatistics,
epidemiology, public health and medical research. The course will offer
all the necessary tools for designing epidemiological studies, analysing
data from such studies and interpreting the results. The chief theme
will be the study of the relationship between risk factor exposures and
the development of diseases in the human population.
The course will use real examples, including computer demonstrations
using Excel and STATA, as well as other practical sessions. Basic
knowledge of statistics, such as might be assimilated from a medical
degree course, or a first year course in statistics as part of a science
degree, are assumed.
