LECTURER IN STATISTICS AND RESEARCH METHODOLOGY (Ref: AC/04/18)
As a key feature of the LSE's strategy to enhance social statistics,
which includes a new professorial position, applications are invited for
two career track lecturing appointments tenable from 1st September 2005
- one in the Department of Statistics, the other as a joint appointment
in the Methodology Institute and the Department of Statistics.
For the Statistics position applicants should have a first rate track
record in research in statistics or stochastic modelling in the social
sciences and knowledge, possibly via collaboration, of at least one
application area in the social sciences.
For the joint appointment - Methodology Institute and Statistics -
applicants should have a record of high quality research in social
statistics and its applications. Areas of expertise might include
multivariate analysis, categorical data analysis, sampling theory,
survey methodology, longitudinal data analysis, and analysis of large
and complex data sets.
The appointees will be first class teachers, able to present both basic
and advanced courses. Equally, their research will be at the highest
level of scholarship, supporting and supported by LSE's
multi-disciplinary social science environment.
The Department of Statistics is one of the leading departments of its
kind in the UK and is making an expanding contribution to the LSE's
position as one of the world's leading social science institutions. The
Methodology Institute provides training in research design, and
quantitative analysis and qualitative methods for MSc and PhD students
in the School.
Salary will be in the range of £25,989 to £38,229 p.a. incl.
