We are extending the deadline for proposals for our 2005 conference to July
13th. We have received a number of promising papers but more are needed. In
particular if you have contacts with colleagues in other subject areas who
make use of one of the methods outlined below it would be appreciated if you
could circulate this call. Proposals from postgrads would also be most welcome.

Call for Papers - 'Method or Madness? History and Disparate Approaches'
Association for History and Computing UK 2005 Conference
12th November 2005, CRASSH, University of Cambridge
This conference aims to discuss a range of computer assisted methodologies
in a multidisciplinary setting. Papers are welcome from academics in
history, social sciences, archaeology, computer science, statistics,
genealogy or other disciplines that make use of computer assisted
methodologies that are or could be applied to historical research.
Methodologies may include, but are not limited to:
Multilevel statistical techniques
Event history analysis
GIS
Simulation
Textual analysis
Content-based image analysis
Visualisation (including 3D)
200 word abstracts are invited on any of the areas above. Abstracts should
indicate the current or potential application to history. Submissions from
staff in Further Education and Postgraduates are particularly welcome.
Postgraduates presenting a paper are eligible for a free place, £50
contribution towards expenses and membership of the AHC for one year.
Abstracts should be sent to Dr. Ian Anderson (Convenor AHC-UK) at the
address below, no later than Wednesday 13th July. Submission as an email
attachment in MS Word or RTF format is preferred. All submissions will be
blind peer reviewed.
