SUBJECT CENTRE PROJECTS
6. EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
The Subject Centre has received funding via the Higher Education Academy to
explore ways in which our subject communities may be able to contribute
towards HEFCE's Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) agenda.
We are holding a Focus Group in London on 15 April 2005. If you would like to
contribute, please contact John Canning.
http://www.llas.ac.uk/resources/resourcesitem.aspx?resourceid=2315

7. UNIVERSITY OF SUSSEX DYSLEXIA PROJECT
This project is funded by the Subject Centre for Languages, Linguistics and
Area Studies. The Project stems from the concerns shared by language tutors at
the University of Sussex about the best way to assess the language accuracy of
those with learning difficulties linked to
dyslexia. Generally, such students are given extra time or a scribe, but this
is not always helpful. It is essential to be able to provide assessment
methods which neither advantage or disadvantage these students.
We think that colleagues in other Higher Education institutions experience
similar concerns to ourselves and we are therefore inviting other
practitioners to help us in our survey by completing the questionnaire
<http://www.sussex.ac.uk/languages/1-2-2-1-1.html>. Please
see www.sussex.ac.uk/languages/dyslexia
