Dear all
I know this has been surveyed before, but I am looking for 'current'
information, so I would be grateful for any replies to these questions,
either on an HEI basis or on behalf of Faculties/Schools. Apologies for
cross-posting with any other mailbase.
We are reviewing our system for determining and paying external
examiners fees at University College Winchester (doesn't mean that we
will change, just that we are looking at it!).
1. How do you determine your external examiner fee structure,
centrally or locally (eg faculties, schools)
2. Is it a different fee for different subject areas?
3. How do you pay:
a). Lump sum per year?
b) Student numbers?
c) Number of days of visits?
d) Any extra payments?
e) Special formula to combine the above categories?
Any further information, such as figures, would be much appreciated. All
information will be received in confidence and the names of institutions
will not be publicised.
I will circulate a summary of responses at the end of this month.
Thank you very much
