We have a full system of anonymous MARKING. There is no anonymity at the
boards (apart from a few departments) - there was felt to be no way of
having a useful discussion about a student if the board itself was kept
anonymous.
We feel that so long as the marking is anonymous, and all processes after
that are kept to, and boards minuted correctly, there should be no problem.
Derek.

Subject: Exam Boards
Dear Colleagues,
In response to comments from External Examiners, we are reviewing the
issue of student anonymity at Board of Examiners meetings. I'd be
interested to know what other institutions do. Is there any difference
in practice between Exam Boards which determine progression from yr 1
and yr 2 and final Exam Boards that confirm degree classification?
Many thanks
Sarah
