At Aston, students complete an attendance slip, which is checked
against a candidate list.
Identity is confirmed by means of the ID card, which bears a
photograph, and which must remain on the desk throughout the
examination. Assistant invigilators are instructed to make random
checks throughout the examination. If a candidate does not have the
ID card, an assistant invigilator will come to the Examinations Office to
inspect the photograph on the records system (thank you SITS!). Any
student who is visually unidentifiable (i.e. with the face covered) is
asked to sign the back of the attendance slip. This is then taken to the
Examinations Office during the examination, for checking against the
student's enrolment form.
If a case of personation were discovered (thankfully none so far!), both
students would be subject to a disciplinary board.
