I am trying to collect information relating to the following for work I
am undertaking on 'exam congestion' and would be grateful for feedback
from colleagues. If you would like a copy of collated responses please
let me know and I'll send you a copy.
1) How may students are centrally scheduled exams arranged for each
year?

2) How many exam periods to you hold each year and what are the
lengths?
Three - First Semester January / Second Semester May/June / Resits in
August
14 days, including saturdays for each period.
3) During the exam period, how many exam sessions per day do you hold?
Two
4) How many exams are you scheduling in each exam period?
First semester 760 / Second Semester 1100 / Resits 750
5) Do you run exams on the weekend?
Monday to Saturday
6) If you use weekends, what arrangements do you make for students who
are unable to attend for reasons relating to religious observation,
employment etc.
Arrangements would be made for the student to take the examination
either on the Friday or Monday following the main examination (in
consultation with the acaademic department.
7) Do you copy all exam papers 'in-house' or use an external
company/organisation?
External print supplier
8) If you are having papers copied externally have you encountered any
problems?
No problems so far.
