Dear Erica,
1st thing: It must have been disturbing to have the bus bomb go off so close to your offices. When something happens so close one feels what a narrow escape or perhaps a kind of delayed reaction once the immediate activity is over. I hope you are feeling as OK as can be expected I send best wishes to everyone in your office.
(The next two things are only to be dealt with when you have recovered from the shock of the bomb.)
2nd thing:
I was sent the request below by a member of staff and wondered if there were any helpful sources of infomation I could use.
'A little while ago you sent me an email drawing the equal opps issues in the next RAE to my attention. I'm now in the middle of reading the extensive 'Guidance on Submissions' published by HEFCE and realise that we will need to have an 'appropriate internal code of practice, which attends to all relevant equal opportunities legislation in force on the submission date' (November 2007), which will have guided our selection of staff to be submitted. I'd be grateful for a chat at some point on what, in your view, an appropriate code of practice might look like. Clearly we would want something that informed practice well in advance of actually selecting staff, so I'd like to work on this during the early part of 05-06.'
3rd thing:
WE HAVE GOT THE MONEY FOR THE PROJECT!!!
This hasn't been confirmed formally but Alistair let me know informally. I will announvce it generally when I have the formal letter and know of any terms and conditions etc that may be attached.
Well do look after yourself Erica.
All the best Berry
