HI All
please find below the responses I received from approaches made to a
selected group of companies regarding chip & pin security and operation
for people with visual and manipulative impairments
Regards
Dave Croft
1. Chevron petrol stations – will pass to their Retail Automation Dept,
for their comment.
2. BP Service Stations - Our terminals meet the required standards and
to our knowledge there is no requirement to place a special Chip & PIN
in our stores
3. Shell UK Oil Products - Following customer experiences in our chip &
PIN trials, the card reader deployed by Shell has large concave keys
with standard tactile markings to assist the partially-sighted. It also
has a double-height screen. The unit does have a privacy shield, which
was raised and widened after our trials, to allow customers with manual
dexterity issues to access the keys, although there is always going to
be a compromise between key access and privacy.
4. ASDA - the systems are standard throughout the Retail Sector.
5. Hyper Value – no response
6. Woolworths Plc – no response
7. Lidl – no response
8. Morrisons – no response
9. Marks & Spencer – no response
