Hi Peter.....
I think that Building Control have got it wrong because Part M (1.13f)states
that the paving units must be spaced no wider than 5mm apart if the joints
are unfilled.

Subject: Timber decking
Dear All,
We have been asked to provide a ramp and steps to a family centre.
Because the timber frame and cladding is well below floor level, a
concrete, stone or brick construction is not favoured. We have proposed
a timber deck, with carborundum strips set into the deck boards to
assist grip. The building inspector is not in favour because, although
we can keep the joints between boards below 5mm, they will obviously be
deeper than the 10mm recommended by Part M (1.13f) by about 500mm!
Has anyone come across this problem before?
