Hi
I have just sent some comments to our local authority about the lack of
reference to access for disabled people in our draft Sustainability
Appraisal report and wondered if anyone had had any success in including a
range of objectives and indicators or knew of other local authorities where
there are good examples.
I am finding it quite difficult to develop some indicators as there is no
comprehensive baseline information on the numbers of disabled people (ICB,
DLA, etc are not comprehensive and not always relevant when considering a
regional centre used by workers, residents, visitors etc)
I am also not particularly happy about having any references to access just
in the Supplementary Planning Guidance, as I am concerned that this might
not provide strong enough guidance, particularly for the private sector.
Does anyone have an views on these issues that might help?
best wishes
