Hi John
I may be able to help as I've been working with a local authority in Gt
Manchester for 6 months on access statements and produced a range of
training resources on access statements for planners, building control
officers and their in-house architects and also for councillors (members).
It included all the issues you would expect, including including different
materials for some planners and building control officers, but we also used
the opportunity to jointly develop an in-house decision making process and
produced templates and checklists that could be used by officers and
applicants. We also used case studies to explore decision making. I have
also produced some training programmes and materials for planners in
another authority on access standards, before access statements came in and
are currently developing a training pack for traffic engineers,
environmental designers and others on the current situation.
If you would like more information, please contact me.
I will be working from home today but if you email me, I will contact you
directly.
Best wishes
Flick
