Rhun,
Whilst barriers with tapes, such as the models you have given as
illustrations, are useful they can create difficulties due to the way
the feet protrude. It is better to have a type that screws into the
floor. They come with solid rails at the upper and lower level. They can
be removed for cleaning or re-configured as is needed. They just need
all the floor fixings inserted - a bit like Travel Chess boards! Except
in this case they can be supplied with covers or blanking plates.
Sheffield City Council have them in their One Stop Shop Reception.

Subject: Movable queue barriers
Dear Accessibuilt
Please can anyone advise us re moveable queue barriers such as:
http://www.xtracs.com/baz.htm
http://www.tensator.com/tensabarrier.htm
They are for queues in libraries at our institution.
I understand that for compliance there should be a horizontal
barrier at a lower level so that a guide dog wont go under, and that
a white stick user will detect?
Many thanks
Rhun
