Thanks for this, the images are particularly helpful. Flick has subsequently
raised the issues of the design of these, and this shows that there will
always be different ideas and preferences. Its also useful to consider that
it is not only wheelchair users that are able to access places with the use
of these lifts, that people with walking difficulties may find them helpful,
particularly older people. At the University I've also noticed porters with
large parcels using these lifts and caterers using them. This wider use
certainly helps to demonstrate to people that its not always about 'bolt on'
solutions for disabled people but that these solutions (not always ideal -
as per Flick email) can be of use by everyone.

Subject: [ACCESSIBUILT] short height lifts for wheelchairs
Hi everyone
recently there was a lot of discussion about the problem of getting
wheelchairs up onto stages and similar. Please find attached some
information about alternatives.
also where there is a need for a lift greater than that provided by platform
lifts the mast lift could be used. These are widely used in industry but may
need changes to the controls for use by people with disabilities.
