Dear all,
Just wondering if there is new guide line for
treatment of diabetic keto acidosis.
We had 18 years old girl, glu 337 mg/dl, Na 141, K
4.3, CL 115, HCO3 1.5 mmol/L (our ref range 20.0 to
29.0), PH 6.93 (Ref. 7.4 to 7.5), PCO2 7.4 mmHg (Ref.
25 to 35), PO2 120 mmHg (Ref. 55 to 70), Base excess
-29.2(Ref. -3.0 to -4.0), Anion gap 33.7 (Ref. 10 to
18 mmol/L).
Patient did NOT receive any bicarbonate infusion, the
physician said, we need to treat the glucose only and
the rest will compensate by itself.
The patient having hyperventilation, and that is sound
not comfortable for the patient.
What is your guide line for DKA treatment.
Thanks to all
Mohmed
