We have recently changed our immunoassay analyser from an Immuno-1 to a
Centaur. The comparison of the two oestradiol methods gave a very good
correlation (0.975) though the Centaur gave results approximately 15% higher.
After the Centaur was introduced we noticed a number of results which were much
higher than previously seen in our practice. These were sent to our colleagues at
Hope Hospital where the oestradiol is measured on the Abbot Architect. The
Architect values were between 25-50% lower than those from the Centaur. Samples
from UKNEQAS have been obtained and the results on our Centaur are in close
agreement with the expected value.
As yet we have no explanation for what we are seeing and I would like to ask has
anyone else seen a phenomenon like this or offer suggestions for further
investigations
