Apologies for cross-posting
I regret to tell you that the director of VOICES FOR 9 has withdrawn from this SVP event. This puts us back to square one at least.
What has happened is not clear, but it seems that Paines Plough - "Nothing matters but the writing" - for whom Ms Silbert now works insist that she does not work except for them & this despite the fact that our arrangement has been set up for months and she was taking no fee for her work
Ms Silbert expresses embarrassment; and I am inclined to believe her innocent of fault. I am deeply embarrassed at having my plans and hopes wrecked in this way, even by "a leading light in the world of new writing."
But I have already found that even in new writing if someone wishes to spoil an event there may be nothing one can do
There is no choice but to cancel the production with a view to staging the play another time; but that will take planning
The SVP event will go ahead on 28th February - Allen Fisher will take the entire evening instead of half of it. Even if your main interest is in Alaric's writing, I hope you will attend
All the best
Lawrence
