Well, the sickening hypocrisy of the imperialist occupiers has now
been underlined by the spectacle of terrorised Iraqis forced at
gunpoint to cast their votes for a puppet government whose sole
purpose will be to legitimate the ongoing US genocide in the region
and facilitate the economic plunder of their country by the forces of
rapacious global capitalism.
In spite of brave efforts by the resistance to disrupt this naked
assault on the freedom and dignity of the Iraqi people, including the
courageous actions of suicide bombers whose despair we can barely
begin to imagine, Iraqi citizens were forced to queue for several
hours in militarized compounds, only to be humiliatingly "tagged" with
purple ink once their obeisance to the occupiers had been enforced.
A handful of quislings even waved banners supporting the so-called
"democratic" process; they have been photographed by vigilant
supporters of freedom, and will no doubt get what is coming to them in
due course. In the UK we must thank Hizb-ut-Tahrir for their
unstinting support of global justice, and their organisation of timely
protests against the travesty of "exiles" posturing as Iraqi
"citizens" exercising their democratic "rights". These protests were
met with a predictably brutal and Islamophobic response by the fascist
Manchester constabulary, who it seems do not respect the rights of
their *own* citizens to inform these collaborators of the likely
consequences of their behaviour.
All in all, a sad day for freedom, justice and the dignity of
oppressed peoples around the world.
