how memory works
or fails foils
the singular
reading review
of a novel of memory
mine intrudes
such startled moments
she stood there or
wait that music in the back
ground of being reminded
first listen glisten
another moment over
laid alloyed
why do these flashes
between eyes & words gleam
a glamour rushes by
as if it happened in light
bright & fading even
as I turn the page

Drag yr mouldy old bones
Up these stairs & tell me
What you died of,
I think
I’ve got it
Too.
