Were you in high school right now, expressing sympathy for Harris and
Klebold would be a most impolitic act. I've read no end of accounts of
high-schoolers saying "well, they were assholes, but I can kind of see
where they were coming from" and getting into the most incredible
amounts of shit for it.
To me, it's scary to think that there are high-schoolers who *haven't*
fantasized about wiping out most of their classmates - these are the
ones who will say, when asked, "everyone at our school is really
friendly, it's not bitchy or cliquey at all, there's a really good
atmosphere and everyone gets on really well" when reporters come to
ask them why they think two of their classmates might have formed a
suicide pact after months of bullying.
