Oh thanking you Ken. Since her accident I have heard quite a few stories of people who broke their necks and who were walking around (for weeks sometimes) and didn't know it. I have heard many good outcomes. But there you go, I think it would have to be a very tactless person indeed who told me of a bad outcome.
And I think it is almost miraculous that the Australia Council provides a flat in Rome and a stipend and travel insurance and air fare and specifically try to give it to a poet.
It does make us poets feel quite special.
