No, Stephen, I was being playful or if you prefer facetious
You say yourself my objection
and I think there are some roots to it in that a ref to Neanderthaler is sometimes an assertion that we progress
We change, sure; but the sense of constant improvement is misleading and can lead to the assertion that what is being down NOW is ok because more enlightened or something
My objection to Bush and co is the one you say, the no change thing - but that came ocver without attribution to Neanderthal behaviour. I liked them having money though
No deeper than that, Not sure it was worth my posting on. All best

Neanderthal: an extinct subspecies of human beings that populated Europe,
northern Africa, and western Asia in the early Stone Age.
Yes, Lawrence, I was probably superfluously over-reaching or dipping into
cliché. I should give more respect to the original species who apparently
bore little of the characteristics I have ascribed to some of my
'republican' fellows.
Unless your sense of "regret" goes deeper than that?
