I understand your point, Alison.
Though I am not in the least offended by POETRYETC---quite the contrary---I
do see that I have offended you.
Just as I don't know what's in your heart or experience, neither do you know
what's in mine. My playing with---becoming---characters and their words and
situations has existed in me since kidhood; it seems hardwired in me, so
it's no surprise that I'm a playwright.
PLAYING's the important word here, Alison. If, in your view, I've offended
you by teasing about POETRYETC, then I apologize for hurting your feelings.
It was not my intention. As a matter of fact, I agree with POETRYETC's
mission entirely, and I felt that rather keenly as I poked fun in the guise
of Quadruple Agent Prince.
One of the truths in this situation may be that we agree on POETRYETC's
mission, but we have, individually, quite different personalities and modes
of artistic expression. Just there is the beauty in art and in artists:
their uniqueness in expressing their missions. We are an indigestible lot!
We can be "trying" in the extreme! Tough as some of us, at times, can be to
take, I cherish us, as I feel you do.
I do not cherish offending folks, tho---unless they're politicians in my
country, natch.
So, for my part, I'll look for ways to continue doing my thang joyfully
without offending you, personally. And, naturally, I presume that you're
not trying to censor me, just trying to convey strong disappointment in what
you see as my mockery of POETRYETC.
I applaud your making yourself clear to me about what you feel so deeply.
