But apparently that's the new North American Jesus. There's a
fascinating essay on this in the latest Harper's: begins with a note
that most USAmerican christians believe 'God helps those who help
themselves' is from the Bible.
And such Canadian institutions as the one with that sign seem to be on
the same wavelength, alas.
