Friends years back with a woman from Australia named Andrea McRobbie.
She had, circa late '90s, THE most extensive list of links I've ever
seen. She migrated to Indiana several years ago because her husband
Michael become VP for Information Technology and CIO of Indiana
University in Bloomington. I don't remember her webname (it wasn't the
real one)
Oh God. I just ran a search against her name. She died at the end of
2003, November 12. It's the Andrea I knew...she worked in Continuing
Studies in IU and the kids and Michael are hers. I did not expect
this...she was a good 10 years younger than me. The person who posted
to some blog or other had worked for her, said it was "a long battle
with cancer." We met up f-t-f one night in Boston, 1995, a technology
show, I bought her dinner on Morgan Stanley's nickle, we had lots of
laughs. She had a savage, savage sense of humor.
I hate surprises.
