Ah, well, here at least I find myself in the same position, but then
here I am in a country where a number of small presses remain in
operation without needing (apparently) the money from contests to
survive. Indeed, the writers of my generation got into the 'game long
before the contest thing appeared on the horizon. It's here now, but in
Canada, as I said, mostly for individual poems, associated with
magazines or associations, not for books.
