Hard to answer this Andrew. O I went to see what Ron had to say, &
except fro the fact that he didn't like Shane Rhodes's work & I do, I
can't really argue with him. Crozier & Lane are essentially into trad
lyric & I'd no more trust their editorial judgement than they'd trust
mine (& believe me, they don't). I am myself not that much in touch
with a lot of younger poets in Canada, so I don't know most of these,
but do see why Ron chose the ones he did, from what he says.
On the other hand, if you haven't read some of the earlier generations,
& if you haven't read the poets he says aren't there, I'd probably
recommend them first too.
I mean, get Bök's Eunoia before anything else. Or anything by (I guess
she's no longer a new poet) Lisa Robertson. For example.

We both know the reason why you called
So stop wastin’ time tryin’ to soften up my fall
I know you wanna sweeten up the taste
But if you don’t mind I’ll just take my sorrow straight
