Hi Stephen
I hardly saw Vancouver, so full of too much intellectualization day in
& day out was this conference on TransCanada: Institutions Literature
Citizenship, in which various presenters took up each of these
concepts. On Sunday, I did get to walk a bit around Stanley Park, sun
shining through a very thin cloud. This was the first of a bunch of
conferences intending to, I think, politicize the teaching of
literature in certain ways that I generally agree with. Although I also
suspect I'm a bit too much of an old fashioned 'liberal humanist' &
formalist to go all the way with the cultural studies paradigm. It was
very stimulating, to be sure....
