A lot of romaticization goes on about the Old South--all those
hoopskirts, agrarian serenity, etc. Plus the glamor of lost causes. It's
pretty silly--like all the French and Germans who dress up as Sioux Indians
every weekend. But mostly I think he's a weird dude, which is what you'd
expect of a county historian and amateur lexicographer.
