Twelve Moons
old moon
just one more candle
on the cake
hungry moon
his face on my
watch crystal
crow moon
the newspaper spreads
across the lawn
shad moon
the white stitch
on a blue blanket, whiter
corn moon
my kitchen curtains
a shade brighter
strawberry moon –
the strong scent of
a neighbor’s dinner
thunder moon
we run from the car
to the beach
red moon
my grandson asks
for another dollar
barley moon
he shows me a photo
in full regalia
rice moon
two cups
nearly empty
hunter’s moon
a thermos of coffee
almost cold
long night moon
father sleeps
behind the news
