I wasn't, myself, suggesting that ("There's nothing good or bad, but that
our thinking makes it so")
Christianity is a most androcentric religion. Even so, it has virtues, as
they all do. My first doubts about it arose at the age of five, upon the
death of a beloved dog, when I was told that dogs didn't go to heaven. I
remember thinking that such a metaphysics (not that I knew the word) didn't
make any sense: how were animal souls any different from mine? But you must
remember that I talked late, at about three, and before then I barked, to
the consternation of our neighbours.
